Camping for KOH

I'm heading in late Wednesday afternoon pulling a 34' Fifth Wheel. I've been to Johnson Valley a bunch of times but never camped there during KOH week. Where do you suggest I set up camp where we can fit a few trailers and not be in the way of anything important?

Really?? That's a funny question. Wait until you see the place. Ultimately its wherever you can find a space. People are EVERYWHERE.

I'll be pulling in Tuesday night this year. Last year we pulled in Wednesday night and had no problem finding a spot on the left hand side of Boones Rd for a single trailer but by sunrise we quickly had people camping close by. What part of the CV you from?

I appreciate that. Hopefully we have service on the lakebed.

Coming in on Wednesday, I'd suggest the "suburbs" it's the first set of trailers you see, on the north side of the road.
This is outside of hammer town and you will get to avoid trying to pull a trailer though the now very congested hammer town.
If you don't want to camp there, head as far east as you can.

Bumping this thread, I assume this is still pretty accurate. Never been to KOH, last time I was at Johnson Valley was probably 10 years ago.

Was thinking about driving down Wednesday. Camping still pretty available? Likely (1) 31' class C and (1) 38' 5th wheel.

We were first time KOH people last year and arrived on Saturday. Camped in the dry (?, a lot of rain week prior) lake bed to be close to Hammer Town. Worked out well, and glad we got there early. We plan to arrive by Saturday again, but think will camp in the sand to the left/right of road, but still close to town. Less mud, traffic.

We left camp at 2 a.m. Sunday morning after the main event. I think that was key to avoiding traffic. Still plenty of people leaving at that time.

Can't wait to hit camp again.

I don't think you can really grasp the scale of this place until you see it in person. There is unlimited camping, unless KOH grows to the point where about 10 million people show up. Until then you are fine. The only thing that would make it a little more challenging would be another year like 2009ish when the lake bed was an actual lake...but there is still plenty of space

I cant find any solid info on the truck that pumps sewage and fills water.

Will he service rigs that are camped near Hammertown but not IN Hammertown? And how much do they want for services?

This is my first year, going to be down there for ten days so I assume I'm going to need to do it once or twice. Apparently the camp we are heading to is left off the main road to Hammertown.

Thanks for any info.

Yes they will service outside of Hammertown. We brought extra water, but used the RV dump service. You just need to track them down; worked really well. I recall the RV dump was about $60. I think water is about the same, but did not get any.

They are a busy crew as you can imagine with all the dry camping. A big money maker for those guys, and priceless for us campers.

Yes they service outside hammertown every day......All camps are left of hammertown Road....The Turd burgles are running around every day all day, there is no phone number, there is no sheet to sign up on....you just drive around till you see them, you hear them or smell them. They have a very distinct sound...they look like a turd burgler truck... and the smell....well ....it’s kind of a s#*@y smell....my buddy used them last year for his truck camper I can’t remember how much it was it seemed expensive till I thought how hard it would have been to carry all those turds off myself....then it seemed pretty darn cheap. It is the same Turd burgler company that sucks the blue huts in hammertown so catch them when they are in there gettin there fill on in hammertown if you fancy hangin out by the blue huts and looking like a weirdo.
