Pre-97 fuel cell set up

Hey everybody.
Been looking into fuel cells for my 95 for a while now but havenít quite figured out how I want to do it. Thought about doing the ďtank liftĒ and boxing it in but Iím slowly changing my mind. My junk is still somewhat streetable and not quite a dedicated trail rig yet so I would really like to keep a working gas gauge. The fuel cell and pump itself isnít very complicated but I havenít been able to figure out how to do a sending unit.
I know that 97+ is a little easier because they have the ring that threads onto some fuel cells. I have a friend with a 98 gas tank, complete with sending unit and pump. Is it worth me just grabbing that and will it work do for me?

i have an 89, so i dont know if there is a difference. but just get the proper sending unit on your cell. 89 is 0-90ohm and i just spliced in my factory wiring.
