98 Amigo on 33s DD+ weekend wheeler

I bought a 98 Amigo with the normal wear w 170k v6, auto, hardtop.
I own a Bent Fab Chassis rig that I get rowdy with and I was looking for a winter DD and possible light duty trail rig. I like trackers and samurais and figured, it's just bigger and possibly better? It runs pretty good, leaks alittle oil, the fuel guage is wacky, frame is solid, abs light is on, but other than that it runs good.

so what I'm doing is cheap lift to get 17x9 w/ -12 offset Fuel Vectors, wrapped in a 33x12.50r17 Fuel Gripper M/T.

Yes, I cranked up the torsion bars and yes its not the correct or even enjoyable way to wheel, but it will get the 33s under it. I'm adding a small coil spacer in the rear and I'm looking for shock options currently. (any ideas?) Trimming isn't an issue and the rockers in front of the rear wells where gone. So I cut the rockers out and welded in a 4x4 square tube in. I'm not sure I like it yet but I will get some paint on it then make up my mind.

I would like to do a 3in lift but I hate the torsion bars. So I'm thinking about doing a TJ rubicon 44 front axle swap.

I have test fitted a bfg 255/75r17 and a 33x12.50r17, so if the tires look different, they are.

here are a few pics.

rocker cut and sealed

the 4x4 fit the rocker area perfect, but it's really different. I'm thinking about a slider tube to break up the box look. Also I've already clearanced the pinch welds front and rear.

Now for tires and wheels: No trimming, just cranked up the torsions and pulled the front fenders off.

These are Method Grids with Nitto Ridge Grapplers 285/70r17 (i like)

this is the 255/75r17 on the 17x9 -12 Fuel Vector. Clearance is really good.

and I can turn easily lock to lock. All in all this would be a pretty awesome daily and weekend wheeler setup with minimal trimming if any.
BUT, this is 98 Amigo on 33s thread. So break out the saw and cutting wheel.

I didn't care for my trim job and the bumper is in the way of the front tires, so I.

And the 33 doesn't stick out much'

That's where I'm at as of tonight. I will have the 33s on it soon. The rear is my next my next area of focus. Just really not digging the fuel tank in the way of the control arm. Has anyone 3 linked theres? or Y linked or kinda 1/2 Y lol. I've got ideas but the all cost money.

Happy New Year everyone and I will keep posting pictures and updates. Peace

oh and Pauls a homo!

Here's what I went with: Fuel Vector 17x9 -12offset and Maxxis RZR MT 285/70r17 (33x11.5r17). I need to add 2inch coil spacers in the rear, but I'm happy so far.

Same as this guy! I've been thinking about picking up one of these little dudes for a light duty wheeler. In for the updates as you go along!
